WhatsApp is expanding its artificial intelligence tools for businesses in India. The platform has launched “Business AI”, a feature designed to help small and medium businesses handle customer conversations more efficiently on WhatsApp.

Meta-owned WhatsApp announced the launch of Business AI for users of the WhatsApp Business app in India. The feature is aimed at helping businesses automate customer support and respond to users around the clock without depending on third-party software.

According to the company, Business AI can answer customer questions, provide product details, assist with bookings, and help businesses manage conversations more efficiently. The tool is designed mainly for small and medium-sized businesses that rely heavily on WhatsApp to interact with customers.

The feature supports Indian languages

One of the major highlights of the rollout is support for native Indian languages. WhatsApp said the AI system can communicate with customers in different regional languages, making it easier for businesses to serve users across the country.

The company said the feature works directly within chats and can continue responding even when business owners are offline. Reports suggest it can handle common customer requests related to pricing, delivery information, offers, and appointment bookings.

Focus on small businesses and automation

India remains one of WhatsApp’s biggest markets, with millions of small businesses using the app for communication and sales. With Business AI, WhatsApp is looking to simplify customer engagement and reduce manual workload for business owners.

WhatsApp stated that businesses will not need additional integrations or external tools to use the feature. The AI assistant has been built into the WhatsApp Business app itself, allowing businesses to set it up directly inside the platform.

The launch also reflects Meta’s broader push into AI-powered business tools. Over the past year, the company has expanded AI features across several platforms as competition in the artificial intelligence sector continues to grow.
