What is BJP’s projected 2026-Bengal cabinet? Here's a full list of old faces, and new equations

BJP’s projected Bengal cabinet hints at major power shifts, surprise ministry picks and key roles for several senior leaders ahead of government formation.

With the BJP preparing to form a government in West Bengal for the first time, the party’s projected cabinet list has revealed the likely distribution of key portfolios across senior leaders. According to the recently surfaced projection notes, senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari is set to take charge as Chief Minister, while Dilip Ghosh and Agnimitra Paul are projected to serve as Deputy Chief Ministers.

As per the projected list, Suvendu Adhikari is expected to oversee some of the government’s most crucial departments, including Home and Hill Affairs, Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Land and Land Reforms and Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation, along with Programme Monitoring.

The proposed cabinet structure places several administrative and law-and-order responsibilities directly under the Chief Minister’s office.

Dilip Ghosh and Agnimitra Paul tipped for major development portfolios

Dilip Ghosh is projected to handle Panchayats and Rural Development along with Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs, indicating a focus on rural governance and West Bengal development.

Agnimitra Paul, meanwhile, is likely to receive the Industry, Commerce and Enterprises portfolio along with Information Technology and Electronics. She is also projected to oversee Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction.

Rahul Sinha likely Speaker, Tapas Roy Deputy Speaker

According to the projected arrangement, Rahul Sinha is expected to become Speaker of the Assembly, while Tapas Roy may serve as Deputy Speaker.

Key ministries and projected ministers

The Finance department is projected to go to Swapan Dasgupta, who may also handle Planning and Statistics.

Shankar Ghosh is likely to oversee School Education, Higher Education, and Mass Education Extension and Library Services.

Dr. Indranil Khan is projected for Health and Family Welfare, while Kaustuv Bagchi may take charge of Law, Judicial, and Parliamentary Affairs.

Rupa Ganguly is expected to handle Housing as well as Urban Development and Municipal Affairs.

Dibyendu Adhikari is projected for Irrigation and Waterways along with Transport, while Lakshman Chandra Ghorui may oversee Power and Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources.

Other major projected allocations include

Ashoke Dinda for Youth Services and Sports

Dhruba Saha for Information & Cultural Affairs and Tourism

Piyush Kanodia for Science and Technology and Biotechnology, along with Technical Education, Training & Skill Development

Chandana Bauri for Self Help Group, Self Employment, and Water Resources Investigation and Development

Sumanta Mandal for Fisheries, Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources and Fishing Harbour along with Sundarban Affairs

Rekha Patra for Disaster Management, Civil Defence and Fire and Emergency Services

The projected list also includes portfolios for Agriculture, Minority Affairs, Tribal Development, Consumer Affairs, Public Health Engineering, Forests, Labour, Co-operation, and Food Processing among others. However, no official confirmation has yet been issued regarding the final cabinet formation.
