Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' arrived in cinemas on March 19 to roaring crowds and massive numbers. But an alarming incident in Montreal, Canada, has pulled attention away from its box office triumph.
A section of the audience at a Montreal cinema allegedly destroyed the theatre screen mid-screening. Police had to step in, with officers seen entering the auditorium. Videos of the chaos quickly spread across social media.
The damage was reported at more than one location.
An Instagram user flagged the pattern online, writing, "Movie night gone WRONG. Dhurandar screenings are turning into straight-up chaos, first at Cineplex Atwater, now another incident reported at a different theatre in Angrignon." Several other Canadian viewers also reported disruptions during their screenings.
How did the internet respond?
Reactions online were divided. One user commented, "I have heard of multiple movie screens being destroyed during this movie. I will definitely be watching this movie now since people are trying to silence it."
Others were simply angry at the destruction of property. One comment read: "These folks should just voice their displeasure with the movie instead of destroying private property belonging to a business. Those screens are NOT CHEAP. Next time just say something!!!"

'Dhurandhar 2' is directed by Aditya Dhar and features Ranveer Singh returning as an Indian spy in Pakistan. The film also stars R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Danish Pandor, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. The first film was a huge success and earned ₹1300 crore worldwide. It became the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film ever.
Despite the controversy, Dhurandhar 2 has performed strongly. It has collected ₹278 crore in India and crossed ₹300 crore worldwide since its release.

Dhurandhar 2 shatters day 2 box office records
According to Times Now, Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2 pulled in Rs 80.72 crore on its second day at the domestic box office.
The collection broke the day 2 record previously held by Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, which had earned Rs 58.37 crore on its second day when it was released in 2023.
