Indian Navy invites applications for Agniveer SSR, MR posts; Check details

Indian Navy Agniveer Recruitment 2026 begins on March 14. Check eligibility, selection process, salary, exam date and how to apply for SSR, MR and SSS posts.

The Indian Navy has released the recruitment notification for Agniveer SSR, Agniveer MR, and SSS (Medical) Sailor posts through the Agnipath scheme. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their online application through the official website, joinindiannavy.gov.in, from March 14, 2026, and the application window will be open till April 6, 2026.

The notification released by the Indian Navy said that a correction window will be provided for the candidates who wish to make changes in their application forms, and the correction window will be open from April 10 and April 11, 2026. The recruitment examination is expected to be held in May 2026, and the results will be released in June 2026.

Male and female candidates are eligible for the posts.

Eligibility criteria for Agniveer posts

The Indian Navy has specified different educational qualifications for each category of recruitment. For Agniveer MR, candidates must have passed Class 10 with at least 50 per cent marks from a recognised board.

For Agniveer SSR, applicants must have passed Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics or hold a three-year diploma with at least 50 per cent marks. For Agniveer SSR (Medical) posts, candidates must have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, also with a minimum of 50 per cent marks.

Selection process and physical test

The selection process will involve a written examination followed by physical and medical assessments.

Candidates who qualify in the written test will be required to undergo a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) that includes running, squats, push-ups and sit-ups. They will also have to clear the Physical Standard Test (PST) and medical examination. The final merit list will be prepared primarily on the basis of marks obtained in the written examination, subject to candidates clearing all physical and medical requirements.

Application fee and how to apply

The candidates need to pay an application fee of ₹550 when filling the online application form.

The candidates need to follow the following steps to apply for the posts. First, the candidates need to register on the official website joinindiannavy.gov.in. Then they need to login to their account and click on the option ‘Current Opportunities.’ Then will then need to fill the application form.

Salary and training

The candidates selected for the posts will receive a stipend of ₹14,600 during the initial training period.

The candidates will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix after the successful completion of the training. The candidates will receive a salary between ₹21,700 and ₹69,100. Along with the salary, they will receive a monthly Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹5,200 along with the Dearness Allowance.
