The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad has initiated its Summer Research Internship Scheme (SRIS) 2026 and is inviting undergraduate and postgraduate students to apply for it.
As per the details of the scheme made available by the institute, it is stated that the aim of SRIS is to give students hands-on research experience with academic mentors. It is an initiative to promote research and academic skills among students.

It is stated that students who are accepted for the summer internship scheme would be offered a scholarship of ₹5,000 per month for two months under the scheme. Additional scholarships may be offered depending upon the research projects.
Internship duration and academic exposure
The summer internship for undergraduate and postgraduate students will be for one to two months only. Long-term research internships will also be available for BTech, MTech, MSc, and MBA students.
The long-term internship will be for six months to one year.
The participants will be required to do research in their respective projects and present it in front of a review committee at the end of the internship period.
The selected interns will be granted access to the institute for a temporary period, including access to the library, internet services, sports complex and medical facilities during their internship period at the campus. They may be provided with accommodation facilities as well, but it will be at their own expense.
Eligibility and application process
Students applying for the internship must have a strong academic record and meet the institute’s CGPA criteria.
Applicants from institutions such as IITs, IISc, IIMs, NITs, IISERs, NISER, IIEST, central universities and other government-funded institutions must have a minimum CGPA of 7.5, while students from other institutes need at least 8.0 CGPA.
Candidates should also have no backlogs or disciplinary cases, and preference may be given to students in their pre-final year. Applications for undergraduate and postgraduate internship categories will be accepted from March 1 to April 15, 2026, while applications for long-term research internships will remain open until April 30, 2026.

Applicants must submit their documents along with a non-refundable application fee of ₹500, payable online.
To apply, candidates must complete the official application form, compile the required documents and fee receipt into a single PDF, and email the file to people.iitism.ac.in before the deadline.
Students who successfully complete the programme will receive an internship certificate issued by the institute’s Office of the Associate Dean (Research and Development).
