The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is set to release its candidate list around 3:30 PM on Tuesday, and political activity has already intensified ahead of the announcement.
Abhinav Bhattacharya, a resident of Krishnanagar, is known in the area as a social worker and is professionally a contractor. He has been actively involved in various social service initiatives for several years. He officially joined the Trinamool Congress by accepting the party flag from state minister Ujjwal Biswas, Krishnanagar organisational district TMC chairman Rukbanur Rahman, and Nadia Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Tarannum Sultana Mir.
He formally took the TMC flag from state minister Ujjwal Biswas at the party office in Krishnanagar, triggering fresh speculation in local political circles.

Speculation over Krishnanagar North seat
Bhattacharya’s entry into the party at this crucial moment has raised questions about its timing and intent. His name has been doing the rounds for some time in connection with the Krishnanagar North assembly constituency. A familiar face in the city, he is actively involved in social service and comes from a well-known business family in the area.
Political observers believe his induction just before the candidate list announcement could be linked to considerations for a ticket.
The Krishnanagar North seat remains politically significant. In 2021, the late Mukul Roy had won the constituency on a BJP ticket, defeating TMC’s Kaushani Mukhopadhyay. Since then, the political landscape has shifted. Roy has passed away, and in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, TMC’s Mahua Moitra secured a decisive victory in the Krishnanagar seat, leading in all seven assembly segments, including Krishnanagar North.
Meanwhile, neither the Left Front nor the BJP has announced candidates for the constituency yet. With the TMC list imminent, speculation is at its peak over whether Abhinav Bhattacharya will be fielded as a new face from Krishnanagar North.
