East Midnapore district has received a new station. The Gholbagda Railway Halt Station has been officially inaugurated. Passenger train service commenced from that station on Thursday. Officials claim that along with benefiting local residents, this will also benefit the district's tourism industry.
The Gholbagda Railway Halt Station has been constructed by the Kharagpur division of South Eastern Railway. Passenger train service has now commenced from this newly built station on the Tamluk-Digha section, between Henria and Nachinda stations.

Passenger services begin on the Tamluk–Digha route
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several public representatives and railway officials. Among those present were former Union Minister Shishir Adhikari, former Tamluk MP Dibyendu Adhikari, Bhagwanpur MLA Rabindranath Maiti and Kanthi North MLA Sumita Sinha.
Senior railway officials including Kharagpur ADRM (Operations) Manisha Goel and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Nishant Kumar also attended the event. During the ceremony, the 68119 Panskura–Digha EMU local train was flagged off from the newly inaugurated station.

Officials have stated that with the commencement of regular passenger stoppage at Gholbagda, connectivity for residents of surrounding areas will improve significantly. They hope this will make passenger transportation on the Tamluk-Digha section easier. This new halt station will greatly benefit local passengers, students, businesspeople, and tourists visiting Digha and adjacent areas.
They have also announced that more trains will be given stoppage at this station in the coming days.
