Over 4 lakh KitKat bars stolen in Europe—Nestle jokes thieves 'took break too literally'
Swiss food brand Nestle reported the theft of a large shipment of its popular KitKat bars in Europe. The company warned that this incident could disrupt supplies ahead of the Easter season.
In a statement, Nestle confirmed that a truck carrying 413,793 units of its new chocolate range was stolen during transit. The shipment, which weighed around 12 tonnes, went missing last week while moving between production and distribution points, according to news agency AFP. The truck had left central Italy and was heading to Poland, with plans to distribute the products to several European countries along the way. However, the exact location of the theft has not been revealed, and both the vehicle and its cargo are still missing.
A spokesperson for the brand referred to its famous tagline, saying the company always encourages consumers to "have a break" with KitKat. However, they added that in this instance, "thieves appear to have taken the message too literally".
