Lashkar-e-Taiba’s commander Bilal Arif Salafi was killed in Pakistan’s Muridke in broad daylight after being attacked by a few unidentified assailants shortly after Eid prayers today.
The incident reportedly took place inside the Markaz Taiba complex, a very important hub linked to the terror outfit, underlining a major security breach, according to a report by ABP News.
The killing has drawn a lot of attention in both domestic and international media due to both Salafi’s role within the organisation and the circumstances under which the attack unfolded.
Speculation also arises whether it was an inside job or a planned execution, given the recent ongoing conflicts.

What happened in the case
As per the report, Salafi was attacked moments after offering today’s Eid prayers at the Markaz Taiba complex in Muridke. He was shot and stabbed by unidentified attackers, leading to his death at the scene. The attackers reportedly carried out the whole assault very swiftly and also managed to escape, triggering a widespread panic among those present at the location at that moment.
This attack has also raised serious questions about how the assailants were able to access this highly guarded and monitored location and target a senior figure of the terror organisation without immediate intervention.
The use of both firearms and sharp weapons indicates a deliberate and coordinated attempt to ensure the killing. Salafi was believed to be a very senior personality within the Lashkar-e-Taiba, reportedly involved in recruitment and ideological activities.

Motive & wider implications
The motive behind the killing still remains a mystery, with no group or individual claiming responsibility so far. The nature of the attack has led to speculation about possible internal rivalries, factional disputes, or a targeted elimination. Authorities in Pakistan have yet to release a detailed statement on identifying suspects or establishing a clear motive for the attack.
The incident has raised broader concerns, particularly because it occurred at Muridke, a site widely known for its association with Lashkar-e-Taiba’s core activities.
The killing of a senior figure like Salafi could also have wider implications for the organisation’s internal structure and functioning. Now everyone is looking for further investigations which can give more details on the nature or motive of the attack and whether it was a targeted and coordinated foreign attack or a very well planned internal conflict.
