Viral ‘Kumbhmela Girl’ Monalisa Bhonsle seeks police protection in Kerala

Monalisa Bhonsle, popularly known as the viral ‘Prayagraj Kumbhmela girl’, approached a police station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, seeking protection after alleging that her father was trying to forcibly take her back to her hometown in Indore. According to reports, Monalisa and her boyfriend visited the Thampanoor police station and told officials that she wished to stay in Kerala and marry him. She is currently in the state for the shooting of a film and sought police assistance to prevent any attempt to take her away against her will.

India prioritises four sectors for natural gas supply as Iran-US conflict hits energy flow

The ongoing Iran-US war in the Middle East has disrupted global energy supply chains, prompting India to take precautionary steps to manage the availability of natural gas. With tensions escalating near the Strait of Hormuz, shipping movement has slowed significantly, leaving more than 750 cargo vessels stranded at major ports in the region over the past two weeks. India depends heavily on imported natural gas to meet its energy needs. Around 50 per cent of the country’s gas demand is met through imports. Supreme Court allows passive euthanasia for man in vegetative state for over a decade

The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed passive euthanasia for a 31-year-old man who has remained in a permanent vegetative state for more than a decade, calling it a decision taken in the patient's best interest and dignity, Hindustan Times reported. The ruling came in a petition filed by the parents of Harish Rana, a resident of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and a former student of Panjab University. A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Viswanathan delivered separate but concurring opinions permitting the withdrawal of clinically assisted nutrition and hydration (CANH) under strict medical supervision. Air India, IndiGo announce special flights to Middle East amid ongoing regional tensions

India’s major carriers Air India and IndiGo will operate special flights to and from several destinations in the Middle East on Wednesday, March 11, as disruptions to regular aviation routes continue due to the ongoing military confrontation involving the US–Israel alliance and Iran. According to operational plans, the Air India group will operate 58 flights to and from West Asia, while IndiGo will run services to eight destinations across the Middle East. India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday to discuss the evolving situation in West Asia amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel. The conversation marked their third interaction since tensions escalated last month. The two leaders had earlier spoken on February 28, shortly after military strikes by the US and Israel reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Pune’s largest crematorium Vaikunth Dham temporarily shuts gas furnaces amid LPG supply curbs

Maharashtra’s largest gas-based crematorium, Vaikunth Dham in Pune, has temporarily suspended its gas-operated cremation services after restrictions were imposed on the use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)components such as propane and butane. The step follows directions issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas amid supply concerns linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Operated by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the crematorium is spread across nearly 17 acres in Navi Peth and usually conducts around 20 cremations a day.
