The National Zoological Park will let people celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other special occasions by adopting an animal for a day. The fees will range from Rs 500 for a small animal to Rs 50,000 for a tiger, according to Hindustan Times. Zoo Director Sanjeet Kumar mentioned that the plan for short-term animal adoptions is expected to get approval by the end of this month, with a launch planned for March. The cost for a day of adoption is based on the annual adoption rate of each animal, he explained. "If an animal has an annual adoption cost of Rs 50,000, the fee for adopting it for a day would be about Rs 500," Kumar told Hindustan Times. According to the updated rates, a spotted deer costs Rs 18,000 to adopt for a year. It can be adopted for one day for Rs 500. A sloth bear, which has an annual adoption cost of Rs 45,000, is also available for daily adoption at Rs 500, Hindustan Times reported.

However, Justice Sharma directed that the amount must be furnished via a Demand Draft (DD) instead. The court has granted time until 3 pm today for the submission of the DD to secure interim bail. Actor Rajpal Yadav is currently in Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court denied his request for more time to repay dues in seven cheque-bounce cases. He needs to pay around Rs 9 crore. While considering Yadav’s request for interim bail on February 12, the Delhi High Court instructed the complainant to respond to the application and postponed the matter to February 16 for further discussion. In his application, Yadav has asked for temporary release to attend a family wedding.
