US President Donald Trump has sparked fresh speculation after posting a brief but intriguing message on April 5: "Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!". The post, shared without any explanation, quickly drew attention amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran.

The timing of the message has raised questions, especially as diplomatic and military developments continue to unfold in the region.

Focus on Strait of Hormuz

The post comes at a moment when pressure has been mounting on Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for global oil shipments. A significant share of the world's energy supplies moves through this narrow corridor, making it central to ongoing geopolitical concerns.

Trump had earlier indicated that there was a "good chance" of reaching a deal with Iran soon. In an interview with Fox News, he suggested that negotiations were underway behind the scenes and hinted that an agreement could emerge within days.

Pause in strikes and renewed signals

The message follows Trump's decision to temporarily pause US strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure. According to him, the pause came at Iran's request to create space for negotiations. While the window for this pause was expected to close Monday evening US time, the latest post appears to shift focus toward Tuesday.

At the same time, Trump has maintained a strong stance, warning of possible action if Iran does not meet demands related to reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

In a separate post on Truth Social, he wrote, "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran," signalling the possibility of targeted action.

Rising tensions and conflicting reports

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have continued to escalate as the conflict in the region enters its second month. Iran has shown no clear sign of stepping back, even as diplomatic efforts continue.

On Sunday, Iranian state television aired footage claiming debris from a US aircraft shot down during a recent rescue mission. However, a regional intelligence official told The Associated Press that two US transport planes were destroyed by US forces due to a technical issue during the same operation.

Despite claims of "great progress" in talks, no agreement has been finalised. Iranian officials have described US proposals as "unrealistic, illogical and excessive", highlighting the gap between the two sides.
