Ramayana teaser out: Ranbir Kapoor’s serene Lord Rama sets tone for Nitesh Tiwari’s epic

The teaser of Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has finally been released, offering audiences their first look at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. The brief glimpse sets the tone for what is being mounted as one of the most ambitious Indian film projects to date.

First look: A calm and commanding Rama

The teaser features scenes from the epic, including scenes where Rama is crowned and banished to Panchavati. Ranbir Kapoor is seen to be calm and composed throughout the teaser, portraying the calmness and composure that is characteristic of Lord Rama. His performance is focused on calmness and composure. The film has been mounted on a reported budget of over Rs 4,000 crore for both parts combined. The film’s producer, Namit Malhotra, said the film has been in the works for several years and the goal has been to build a global film experience based on the Indian epic.

He said the film’s scope has never been attempted in Indian film, but the film remains focused on the importance of efficiency.

A global musical collaboration: Rahman and Zimmer come together

The film’s music brings together two renowned names, A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Speaking about the collaboration, Rahman described the process as both exciting and challenging, given the cultural and emotional weight of the Ramayana.

Release timeline and cast

The film will be released in two parts. The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide release in October 2026, ahead of Diwali, while the second part is planned for Diwali 2027.

Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, the film features Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey and Yash in key roles.
