IndiGo gets new CEO: Ex-British Airways boss William Walsh to replace Pieter Elbers

IndiGo has announced a leadership change weeks after the abrupt resignation of Pieter Elbers. On Tuesday, the airline named former British Airways chief William Walsh as its new chief executive officer, marking a significant transition at the country's largest low-cost carrier. In an official statement, the airline highlighted Walsh's global aviation experience. "Mr. Walsh (popularly known as Willie) is currently the Director General of IATA (International Air Transport Association) and was formerly CEO of British Airways and IAG (International Airlines Group, a holding company which owns Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Level and Vueling)," read the official statement from IndiGo. PM Modi unveils ₹20,000 crore projects in Gujarat today on Mahavir Jayanti

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched major development projects on Tuesday, March 31, marking Mahavir Jayanti with a packed schedule spanning culture, infrastructure, semiconductors, and rural development. During the visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹20,000 crore across multiple locations.

In a post on X a day earlier, the Prime Minister said he would participate in programmes in Gandhinagar, Sanand, and Vav-Tharad, covering sectors such as culture, infrastructure, health, and more.

“Tomorrow, 31st March, I will be in Gujarat to take part in programmes in Gandhinagar, Sanand and Vav-Tharad. These programmes cover culture, semiconductors, infrastructure, health, rural development and more," PM Modi said.

BJP MP K Laxman alleges 'religion-based' misuse of OBC quota for Muslims in Parliament

A political flashpoint developed in the Rajya Sabha on Monday after BJP MP K Laxman charged the opposition-governed states with offering the benefits of the Other Backwards Classes (OBC) reservation scheme to all Muslims. Delhi to see light rain today

Delhi is on track to record its warmest March in four years, with temperatures hovering above normal levels even though the second half of the month has been cool. The average temperature recorded up until March 30 has been 32.5 degrees Celsius for the maximum temperature and 17.5 degrees Celsius for the minimum temperature. This puts Delhi in the same category as March 2022, when temperatures were similarly high. The average minimum temperature, which is often considered a significant factor in temperature discomfort, has been 1.9 degrees Celsius above the long-period average of 15.6 degrees Celsius. RBSE class 12 result 2026 to be declared today

The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will announce the Class 12 board examination results on Tuesday, March 31, at 10 AM. The declaration will take place at the RBSE office in Ajmer. Education Minister Madan Dilawar will release the results, with RBSE administrator and divisional commissioner Shakti Singh Rathore and secretary Gajendra Singh Rathore present during the announcement. 18 India-flagged ships stranded near Strait of Hormuz

At least 18 India-flagged vessels carrying crude oil, LPG, and LNG remain stranded to the west of the Strait of Hormuz as the ongoing West Asia conflict continues to disrupt one of the world’s most critical shipping routes. Government officials confirmed that an additional 10 foreign-flagged ships transporting energy supplies bound for India are also stuck in the Persian Gulf region. Speaking at a media briefing, Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, detailed the composition of these vessels. Stock market closed today for Mahavir Jayanti

The Indian financial market will be closed on March 31 on the occasion of Shri Mahavir Jayanti, halting all trading activities in the equity segment for the day. Both BSE and NSE will be closed on this day, the first of two market closures scheduled for this week. The second closure will take place on April 3, which is Good Friday. While equity markets are completely shut, the commodity segment operates on a partial schedule. The Multi-Commodity Exchange of India has suspended trading in its morning session.
