Cause of the disruption and restoration efforts
It was reported that local residents were cutting bamboo trees near the railway line when a portion of one tree accidentally fell onto the overhead wire. This led to multiple trains coming to a standstill, including the Up Panskura-Digha Local (08117), Up Howrah-Digha Tamralipta Express (12857), and Up Mecheda-Digha Local (68113).
Local residents promptly informed railway officials, who rushed to the spot. Engineers and staff immediately began restoration work. Pranab Haldar, manager of Ramnagar railway station, said, “Work is progressing rapidly. All train services will return to normal within a short time.”
