Italian luxury carmaker Lamborghini is preparing to launch two new models in 2026 as part of its strategy to strengthen its portfolio. These are expected to include updated or new versions of existing models, possibly including performance variants and convertibles.

New models lined up as Lamborghini expands lineup

The company has already moved towards electrification through hybrid technology. Models like the Lamborghini Revuelto and Lamborghini Temerario showcase this shift, combining powerful petrol engines with electric motors for better performance and efficiency. By 2026, Lamborghini’s entire lineup is expected to be hybrid-based, marking a major transition for the brand while still keeping its signature high-performance identity intact.

Electric car plans delayed, hybrids take priority

While Lamborghini had earlier planned to launch its first fully electric car, the company has now decided to delay and rethink this move. The electric model, based on the Lamborghini Lanzador, will no longer be introduced as a full EV in the near future. Instead, Lamborghini is focusing on plug-in hybrid technology, citing low demand for electric supercars among its customers. Reports suggest that interest in fully electric high-performance cars remains very limited, which has pushed the company to change its strategy.

The Lanzador, which was earlier planned as an electric vehicle, will now be developed as a hybrid model instead. This allows Lamborghini to meet emission norms while still delivering the engine sound and driving feel that its buyers expect. Despite this shift, the company has not completely abandoned electric vehicles. It is expected to continue working on EV technology, but a full-electric Lamborghini may take longer to arrive than initially planned.
