A dispute at the ticketing counter of Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station has drawn public attention after a video of the incident spread widely on social media. The altercation took place between a passenger and a female ticket clerk at the station.
The clerk reportedly demanded the exact fare from the passenger for the ticket. The passenger did not have the precise amount. This led to a heated exchange at the counter.

What happened at the counter?
The passenger handed over money and asked for a ticket. However, the clerk refused to complete the booking without exact change. Even as the passenger later offered to pay the exact amount through a digital method, the clerk declined that option as well. As the dispute continued, the clerk allegedly threatened to summon the Railway Protection Force (RPF). No ticket was issued to the passenger.

Social media reaction and complaint
The video was posted on X with a caption calling for official action. The post caption stated, "Passenger Harassment at Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station. Kindly take cognizance."
The post further alleged that the staff member behaved poorly with travellers, declined to issue a ticket, and warned that security personnel would be called. Users tagged the Ministry of Railways and other Railway authorities. Many demanded accountability from the station staff.

Railway Seva responds
The official Railway Seva support handle on X responded to the complaint. It said the matter has been sent to the concerned division. They further wrote, "For necessary action escalated to the concerned official," while tagging the relevant Railway division.
The incident has started a wider discussion about passenger service and staff behaviour at Indian Railway stations.
