Who is getting laid off?
Amid the breathtaking data and growth rates, it is now being reported that Netflix is bringing a massive layoff in the global product team. Even though the exact number of employees laid off has not been revealed yet, reports suggest that it primarily affected the creative studio unit, which consists of a team of designers and producers responsible for the creation of marketing materials.
The Times of India cited a report by Variety which stated that the layoffs were "not performance-related". Instead, some of the "employees were made redundant while others were reassigned to different positions within Netflix". The roles which have been affected due to this include designers, producers and creative specialists tied to marketing and brand experiences.
This decision comes when the global order is in a state of jeopardy due to constant conflicts, and in the meantime, this news can bring instability in the global job market.
