West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar alleging a "grave conspiracy" to manipulate electoral rolls in the state. In a strongly worded message, she claimed that fraudulent voter registration applications were being submitted in bulk and urged immediate intervention.
Sharing details, Banerjee said she has formally raised the issue with the Election Commission. She alleged that the process threatens democratic rights and called for strict adherence to existing directions related to electoral roll revisions.

"I have written to the Chief Election Commissioner, raising serious alarm over the grave conspiracy being orchestrated against the democratic rights of the people of Bengal," she stated in her post on X.
Allegations over bulk Form 6 applications
Banerjee claimed that large numbers of Form 6 applications were being submitted to include non-residents in the state's voter list. She also questioned the timing of the alleged move, stating that genuine voters remain under scrutiny while new applications are being processed.
She further alleged that the development could impact the integrity of the electoral rolls and urged authorities to halt the exercise. The Chief Minister also referred to the final electoral roll published earlier and demanded that no additional voters be added after that stage.

"BJP agents have been caught red-handed flooding the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal with thousands of fraudulent Form 6 applications to smuggle non-residents and outsiders into Bengal’s electoral rolls. This is an attempt at voter hijacking, the same dirty game BJP successfully played in Maharashtra and Delhi," the CM wrote in her letter.

'Over 200 lives lost...'
In her letter to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Banerjee alleged that over 200 people have lost their lives due to the flawed Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. "While over 60 lakh genuine voters remain under adjudication and more than 200 lives have already been lost due to the flawed SIR process, the ECI is now suspiciously rushing to entertain these bulk fraudulent applications behind closed doors. This is not only illegal and against the orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, but a direct assault on free and fair elections in Bengal.
I have demanded that the ECI immediately stop this undemocratic exercise, strictly follow the Hon’ble Supreme Court's directions, and ensure that no fake voters are added after the final electoral roll was published on 28.02.2026. Bengal will not allow its democracy to be stolen in broad daylight. The people of Bengal are watching."
