US President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a sharp message to countries facing fuel shortages following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting they either purchase oil from the United States or secure supplies themselves. The remarks come as tensions remain high amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran, with shipping through one of the worldâs most critical energy routes disrupted.
Trump's message amid Strait of Hormuz disruption
The Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly 20 per cent of global oil and gas supplies pass, has remained affected following Iranian retaliatory strikes linked to the broader conflict. Several countries have reported difficulty accessing jet fuel as vessels navigating the waterway face heightened risks.

Reacting to the situation, Trump criticised countries that did not support US actions against Iran and offered what he described as two options.
"All of those countries that canât get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT," the US President wrote on Truth Social.
'Go get your own oil'
Trump also reiterated his view that Iran had suffered significant damage and suggested the US may not continue providing support to allies that stayed out of the conflict.

"You'll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. wonât be there to help you anymore, just like you weren't there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil! President DJT,â Trump posted on Truth Social."
Conflict shows no signs of easing
The exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran has continued, with no clear indication of de-escalation. At the same time, Trump has made mixed remarks about diplomatic efforts, hinting at progress while also warning of further action.
In a fresh development, Iranâs Isfahan city, home to one of the countryâs three nuclear enrichment sites, was attacked on Tuesday. Trump later shared footage of the strike on Truth Social without any caption.
