Growing tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran appear to be driving a sharp increase in demand for underground shelters. A US-based bunker manufacturer has claimed that wealthy executives and possibly even members of President Donald Trump's Cabinet are among those seeking protection.
Demand spikes as conflict intensifies
Ron Hubbard, founder of Atlas Survival Shelters, said interest in his company's bunkers has surged after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran, reported Hindustan Times. The conflict has now entered its second week, raising concerns about potential missile and drone threats.

According to Hubbard, inquiries about shelters have jumped significantly since the war began. He told The Telegraph that interest in Atlas bunkers has increased "tenfold" during the period.
The Texas-based company produces underground shelters designed to withstand a range of threats, including missile strikes, drones and nuclear fallout. With fears of escalation in the Middle East, more people are exploring such safety options.
Prices range from basic units to luxury shelters
Atlas Survival Shelters offers products across a wide price range. Smaller prefabricated bunkers can cost around $20,000, while larger and more sophisticated underground facilities may reach up to $5 million.
Hubbard estimated that the company's typical monthly sales of about $2 million could rise sharply if current demand continues. He suggested that sales could reach as high as $50 million next month.
"Bunker building is like being a farmer," Hubbard told The Telegraph. "When it's time for harvest, you have to reap all you can."
Claim about high-profile clients
Hubbard also indicated that some of his customers may include senior government officials. He claimed that two members of Trump's Cabinet have ordered bunkers but did not reveal their identities.
"One of them texted me yesterday, asking me: 'When will my bunker be ready?'" Hubbard said.
He added that many of the company's clients are wealthy business leaders. Hubbard described several customers as "Christian, conservative CEOs". He also noted that he attended a conference for executives at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort last year.
Among the few publicly known clients is Mark Zuckerberg, for whom Atlas previously designed an underground bunker at his Hawaiian ranch.

A trend growing beyond the US
The surge linked to the Iran conflict builds on a longer-term trend among wealthy individuals preparing for potential disasters. Hubbard started Atlas in 2011 after shifting from iron door manufacturing as interest in survival shelters began to grow.
Global crises have often triggered similar spikes in bunker demand. The COVID-19 pandemic also led to increased orders as people looked for ways to isolate from potential threats.
Demand is not limited to the United States. In Israel, residents frequently take shelter underground during Iranian missile and drone attacks. Atlas has also received bunker orders from wealthy clients in Dubai following strikes in the Middle East.
